Easter Sunday Service: "He is Risen!"-John 20

4/5/2026

Speaker: Steve Lee

In Jesus' death and resurrection, God enters our pain, reveals himself personally to us, and invites us to believe and find new life in him even in the midst of our unresolved questions.

Discussion Questions:

  1. What encouraged you during this past Easter or Lent?
  2. Have you ever had an experience that radically changed your perspective on what you believed?
  3. When you think about the problem of pain and evil what questions loom the largest for you?
  4. How does the idea that God entered into human suffering on the cross reshape or challenge your understanding of the problem of pain?
  5. What stands out to you about John believing in the fact of the resurrection before fully understanding the theology behind it? What does it mean to believe something before fully understanding it?
  6. Have you ever experienced a moment where God felt personally present to you, similar to how Jesus called Mary by name in the garden?
  7. In what ways do you relate to Thomas’ need for evidence before believing?
  8. How are we able to believe in the claim that Jesus rose from the dead and is God when we don't have the advantage that the first disciples had of seeing it firsthand for ourselves?
